ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:
The Department of Public health with the course of General hygiene and epidemiology was first organized in 2017 by merging two departments: the Department of health management Policy and the Department of Hygiene and epidemiology. The head of the Department is doctor of medical Sciences, Professor N. T. Dzhainakbaev. The Department trains students in the following disciplines: “General hygiene”, “Epidemiology”, “evidence-based medicine,” “Introduction to public health”, “Public health”, “Biostatistics”, “Bases of marketing and management”, “History of medicine”, “Fundamentals of healthcare management”, “Fundamentals of marketing in health care”, “History of medicine and public health”, “Introduction to biostatistics”, “basic Economics and health financing”, “Management in nursing care”, “Statistics in health”, “Basics of research activities», “Public health organization”, “Epidemiology of non-communicable diseases”, “Fundamentals of law”, “Fundamentals of economic theory”, “Ecology and sustainable development”, etc.
Over the years of its formation and development, the Department has become a major educational and methodological unit of the University, including 24 disciplines, based on the integration of scientific programs and practical skills of related disciplines in the field of public policy for the protection and promotion of public health. Development of the Department, improvement of the educational process was carried out not in isolation, but in the integration between disciplines and their sequence of teaching, which makes it possible to minimize duplication and improve the system of knowledge delivery. Teaching of disciplines at the Department is conducted according to the program prepared in accordance with the State educational standard of education (SES 2004, 2006, 2008, 2011, 2017). Lectures on disciplines are given on a schedule. Practical classes are traditionally held in the form of classroom and independent extracurricular activities. In the course of the practical course, test control of knowledge is carried out, situational tasks are solved, course tasks are performed to analyze and evaluate the health of the population and the activities of health authorities and institutions. Opportunities for training in disciplines are also expanded by conducting extracurricular classes on special electives and independent training. In order to increase the effectiveness of training, active teaching methods are used. The main methods of training include: business games, simulation tasks, analysis of specific situations of economic activity medical institutions, methods of “brainstorming” when solving certain problems; meetings at the “round table”; individual and collective workshops; work with medical documentation, preparation of term papers, abstracts.
The Department widely uses various forms of knowledge control (introductory, intermediate, final) both on electronic and paper media. For this purpose, tests of different levels of complexity have been developed. Computer technologies and various modern teaching methods have been introduced into the educational process, both at the pre-graduate and post-graduate stages.
Currently, the Department trains students in bachelor’s degree, residency and conducts additional education-i.e. retraining and advanced training of doctors.
In 2018, the Kazakh-Russian medical University received a license to train specialists in the master’s program in two specialties: 6M110100-medicine and 6M110200-public health in scientific, pedagogical and specialized areas.
Due to the need to train scientific and pedagogical staff for the University, the administration has allocated 11 intra-University grants for the 2018-2019 academic year.

Scientific and international activities
The University has signed agreements and memoranda with higher education institutions in France, Turkey, Russia, and the Republic of Belarus for international cooperation.
The Department supports and encourages research activities of students of the faculty. NIRS is a mandatory part of training and is included in the plans of educational and scientific work of the Department. Management of research activities is carried out by the entire staff of the Department
The basics of scientific methodology are taught to students from the first year of study in the study of basic disciplines, such as biostatistics, epidemiology, revised from the standpoint of evidence-based medicine, assigned to the Department. The Department has organized and successfully implemented elective disciplines “Fundamentals of research activity”, “Fundamentals of environmental research”.
Currently, employees of the Department of public health with the course of General hygiene and epidemiology take part in the implementation of research about intra-University research on the topic: “Scientifically-based approaches to improving the process of training middle-level personnel” and ” Providing primary medical care to the population of the regions of Kazakhstan using mobile medical complexes (FAP)”. At the same time, research on planned master’s theses will also be carried out within the framework of these research projects.
Within the framework of academic mobility, work continues to establish contacts with Universities in the Republic and neighboring countries.

SOCIAL AND EDUCATIONAL WORK
The plan for the educational work of students includes various activities for the educational work of students, including those focused on the prevention of suicide among young people. In accordance with the tasks of psychological support for students, training seminars are held “I value life!”, “Dating for students”, ” My first session!”etc.
At the Department, curators are attached to all groups, who work closely with students, curatorial hours are held, and they are on duty in the hostel. A disabled student of the 4th year studies at the faculty at the expense of an intra-University grant.
In order to create conditions for the fullest disclosure of their creative potential, to meet the cultural, creative and organizational needs of students to improve the level of professional training, a 4th-year student of the faculty joined the Committee of General education programs, which takes part in the discussion of educational programs, determining the trajectory of learning, choosing elective disciplines.
Pride of the Department
Jingbai N. T.- MD, Professor, as a scientist and educator made a major contribution to the development of the Department.
Professor N. T. Dzhainakbaev practically devoted himself to the service of medicine and public health.
Over the years, he has created a scientific school and trained a galaxy of students who work in different parts of the country. He wrote a number of monographs, textbooks, and dictionaries. Currently, he heads the Kazrosmeduniversity.
For achievements in the field of development of mobile medical complexes, the rector of “Kazrosmeduniversitet” N. T. Dzhainakbayev was awarded the quality certificate of the Swiss Institute of quality standard “International Quality Sertificate” (SIQS) on July 1, 2015)
