Selection of students for training at the military department

The acceptance of documents by the military department begins on April 1, 2022 and ends 10 working days before the start of the selection committee (no later than 10 working days after the end of the summer session, according to the academic calendar of the university).
- 1) For training under the reserve officer training program, documents are accepted from 2nd year students (with 5 years of study).
- 2) For training under the reserve sergeant training program, documents are accepted from students of the 1st, 2nd (with a 4-year study) and 1st, 2nd, 3rd year (with a 5-year learning).
Students not older than 24 years are allowed to participate in the competition, for the year of the competition, including female students. The selection of students for training at the military department is carried out by a selection
commission on a competitive basis, in accordance with the Recruitment Plan, approved by the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Military training under the program of reserve officers is carried out according to
state educational order and on a paid basis. Military training under the program of reserve sergeants is carried out on a paid basis. A student who has expressed a desire to participate in the competitive selection draws up the following documents:
- Application (issued and completed at the military department);
- Identity card (original and copy);
- Registration certificate (boys) or military ID (original and copy);
- 2 photos 3×4 cm;
- Certificate of no criminal record;
- A document (if available) confirming a sporting achievement;
- Certificate of student’s studies, signed by the dean of the faculty.
The competition for the selection of students for training at the military department is carried out in four stages:
- Passing a medical examination in accordance with the Rules for conducting a military medical examination and the Regulations on the commissions of military medical examination in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated December 21, 2020 No. 716;
- Professional psychological testing;
- Physical fitness test;
- Competitive selection, carried out in accordance with the calculation of the rating score, compiled and approved by the head of the organization of higher and (or) postgraduate education).
The submitted documents for the military department are attached to the personal file and the student is given a card for passing a medical examination in the local military authorities (military registration and enlistment offices). To participate in the competitive selection, the results of the medical examination are submitted to the military department no later than 10 working days before the start of the work of the selection committee.
Students who have not passed a medical examination are not allowed to compete. Professional psychological testing of students is carried out in computer classes and includes checking the level of motivation, stress resistance, critical and logical thinking. The physical readiness of students is assessed by the results of passing physical standards in physical culture. Students who do not score 8 points in terms of the sum of passing the three standards are considered not to have passed the stage. Passing each stage of the competition is allowed once.
The results of the competition are posted the next day after the end of the work of the selection committee at the information stand of the military department. Students accepted to study at the military department are potential candidates for military service by conscription and accept the corresponding obligations.
